Assam Teachers Eligibility Test (Assam TET)
Assam Teachers Eligibility Test is referred to as Assam TET. The Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam conducts the Assam Teachers Eligibility Test (Assam TET). The Assam TET exam is a state-level eligibility test conducted for aspirants who wish to join a teaching career in Assam State. Assam TET is designed to check the knowledge and teaching skills of prospective teachers. The Assam TET Exam is pen paper based test and is divided into two papers:
- Assam TET Paper 1: For those who wish to teach classes 1 to 5.
- Assam TET Paper 2: For those who wish to teach classes 6 to 8.
Assam TET Certificate is valid for Lifetime. Moreover, TET certificate is mandatory for teaching jobs in Government and aided schools. Previously, the Assam TET certificate was valid for 7 years. However, in 2020, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) extended the validity of all State TET and CTET certificates to a lifetime.
Assam TET 2024 – Exam Pattern
The Assam Teacher Eligibility Test Pattern is divided into two parts Paper 1 and Paper 2
- Paper I: For those who want to teach classes I to V (Primary Stage)
- Paper II: For those who want to teach classes VI to VIII (Upper Primary Stage)
The mode of Assam TET is pen paper based with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four options each. The Total Number of Question is 150 in each paper and 150 marks for each paper. That is 1 mark for each correct answer and No negative marking for incorrect answers.

What to carry in the examination venue?
Candidates are advised to carry with them only the following into the examination venue:
- Admit card downloaded from the NTA Website (a clear printout on A4 size paper).
- A simple transparent Ball Point Pens
- Additional photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) to be pasted on the Attendance Sheet.
- Any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid/ non-expired) – PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/E-Aadhaar with photograph/ Ration Card with photograph/ Bank Passbook with Photograph.
- PwBD certificate issued by the authorized medical officer, if claiming the relaxation under PwBD category
