Important Points to be noted:
- UGC-NET Category -1: The JRF-qualified candidates are admitted into the Ph.D. programme based on an interview as per the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022.
- UGC-NET under category-2 and category-3 can be used as an entrance test for Ph.D. admission in place of entrance tests conducted by the different universities for admission to Ph.D.
- For candidates qualified under the category-2 and category-3, the marks obtained in the NET will have 70% weightage and 30% weightage will be based on the performance in the interview/viva voce conducted by the University/HEI concerned. The Ph.D. admission will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the interview/viva voce.
- For admission to Ph.D., the marks obtained in the NET by the candidates in category-2 and category-3 will be valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the result of NET.
- The number of candidates who will be qualified for ‘admission to the Ph.D. only’ will be decided by the results committee.
- The result of NET will be declared in percentile along with the marks/normalized marks (in case of multiple shifts) obtained by a candidate to utilize the marks for admission to Ph.D. In case the test for a subject(s) is conducted in two or multiple shifts, the marks will be normalized by using the Equi-percentile method and the result will be declared in percentile along with normalized marks.

How to Register for UGC NET?
First of all go through the official notification and collect all documents required.
UGC NET 2024 Registration Step by Step process:
- First, check your eligibility; if you meet the UGC NET 2024 eligibility criteria for age limit, educational qualifications, etc.
- Further, get all your required documents ready. Like:- All mark sheets, age proof, Passport size photograph, Signature, Category certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable), Citizenship certificate (if applicable)
- Further, scan the all required document and save them in pdf format.

How to Fill the UGC NET Application Form?
- First login with your newly created credentials the application number and password.

UGC NET 2024 Eligibility Criteria:
The UGC NET Dec 2024 registration officially started; the below is the eligibility required for the exams:
NET UGC Dec 2024 Age Limit:
- The age limit for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) is not more than 30 years as on 01st January 2025 i.e. 01.01.2025.
- a) A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and to women applicants.
- b) Relaxation is there for the candidates with research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant / related subject of post-graduation degree, limited to a maximum of 5 years, certificates from appropriate authority are required.
- c) There is 2 years relaxation in age for the candidates with L.L.M. degree.
- D) A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the candidates who have served in the armed forces subject to the length of service in the armed forces upto 01.01.2025. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) is limited to five years under any circumstances.
- Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for UGC-NET for Assistant Professor.
- Admission to PhD: There is no upper age limit for UGC-NET for Admission to PhD.
UGC NET Dec 2024 Educational Qualification:
The candidates should have following Educational Qualification for UGC NET 2024 December Attempt:
- The minimum 55% Marks in PG or Master’ Degree for General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates. In this category candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC
- The minimum 50% Marks in PG or Master’ Degree for Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category candidates. In this category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
- Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course can also apply, subject to some terms and conditions.
- Candidates who are waiting for the Master’s degree (final year) examination result may also apply, subject to some terms and conditions.
- The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination has been completed by 19 September 1991 shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.
UGC NET 2024 Exam Pattern:
The UGC NET December 2024 mode of exam will be Computer Based Test (CBT) in the selected Cities spread across India.

UGC NET 2024 Admit Card:
UGC NET 2024 Admit Card – The National Testing Agency (NTA) generally releases the admit card a few days before the exam, which is scheduled from 1st to 19th January, 2025.
The Admit Card download link will be provide on the NTA website and candidates has to appear for the Examination at the allotted Centre on date, shift, time and discipline as indicated in Admit Card.
Furthermore, in case of any error in the particulars of the candidate like photograph and signatures shown in the Admit Card and Confirmation Page, the candidate have to immediately approach the Help Line between 09:30 am to 5:30 pm.
UGC NET 2024 Answer Key
UGC NET Answer Key is a important document that contains the correct answers to all the questions in the UGCNET exam. NET Answer is generally released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after the exam is conducted. Moreover, UGCNET Answer key will be released for candidates to check their estimated score to get an idea for qualifying for the exam.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will first release a provisional answer key to be displayed for two to three days, so that candidates can challenge any incorrect answers. Finally, after reviewing the challenges on provisional answer key, after that National Testing Agency (NTA) release a final answer key.
However, NTA will display Provisional Answer Key(s) & Question Paper attempted by the candidates on the NTA’s website https://ugcnet.nta.ac.in/.
Meanwhile, if any applicant have any challenged, than candidates have to pay online an amount of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only) per answer key challenged, as processing fee which is Non-Refundable.
UGC NET 2024 Result
The UGC NET Result or score card is a milestone for teaching professionals. Final NET Results or merit list specify the eligibility of applicant exam for teaching post of Assistant Professorships, Junior Research Fellowships, or for both and for Ph.D Admission for Universities and Colleges across India. .
Further, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to declare the NET 2024 Result after the final answer key released.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) also releases a merit list along with the results. Meanwhile, the merit list is prepared based on the candidates’ total scores in the NET exam.
As per the NTA, however there is no way for re-evaluation/re-checking of the result and No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
